Folding Equipment Company was begun as a wholesale dealership in 1949 by Paul Ziemer. At that time the company represented the exclusive lines of Clarin (folding chairs) and Mitchell (folding tables). The primary customer base was churches and schools. Gradually under his leadership, the sales lines were broadened to school products within the limited sales area of Northwest Ohio. The philosophy of representing many product lines in a small geographical area, insured more efficient coverage and quicker response to our customer's needs.
Mr. Ziemer retired in 1976, but family ownership was continued through his son-in-law Ben James. Mr. James continued building on the same business philosophy as his predecessor. Since, 1984, Folding Equipment Co., LLC has operated from its current location at 5432 W. Central Avenue (at Reynolds) in Toledo, Ohio. The company's emphasis remains servicing the K-12 school market with direct sales to schools and general contractors..
